202 players from three countries and six states teed it up in this 36-hole Golfweek-ranked event.
Coaches from Wichita State, Mary Hardin Baylor, Southwestern saw the Boys 16-18 play 6,721 yards; the Boys 12-15 play 6,373 yards; and all Girls play 5,796 yards in cold and windy weather.
Saturday was cold and windy as the temperatures ranged from 28 to 56 with winds gusting around 25 mph. Both golf courses were in great shape considering the amount of rain the area has received. Round 1 was delayed an hour and half due to heavy frost and fog. Sunday was perfect weather for golf. Temperatures began in the Low 40’s and quickly warmed up in the mid 50’s. Sunny skies and only a slight breeze made for a great closing round.
As always it’s tough to beat the TJGT “Year in Review” Tour Championship Awards Show. For starters players and parents were treated to a...

TJGT SOONER INVITATIONAL PODCAST

Invitational was played October 4th-5th, 2008 at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma, home of the OU Men and Women’s golf teams. Over 70 players from five states and Mexico teed it up in the nationally-ranked, Golfweek event with a limited invitation-only field.
Several college coaches were in attendance coming to watch some of the best junior golfers in the region. You will be hard-pressed to find a deeper girls field on any regional tour than what you find in a TJGT invitational and the Sooner Jr. Invitational was no exception. Warm and windy weather greeted players both days with the wind really picking up on day two with gusts close to 35 mph making the site of the 2009 US Pub Links play even tougher. The bent grass greens were great with good speed, rolling to about 12 on the second day. The course yielded 2 under par scores each day with Chelsey Cothran carding a 71 the first day along with Seth Sullivant. Two boys shot under par on Sunday, 69 for Jake Spencer and 71 for Ryan O’rear. Amy Ruengmateekhum provided some excitement the first day carding a double-eagle 2 on the par 5 #8. The banquet on Saturday night was held at the Stadium Club on the OU campus overlooking the football field at Memorial Stadium, home of the #1 ranked Sooners. Even par wins in windy conditions for the boys while the girls champion shot a total of four over par.

TJGT Tyler Rose Invitational Recap brought to you by Morgan Stanley

Eagle's Bluff CC May 17th-18th 2008 The Tyler Morning Telegraph and SPORTyler pulled out all the stops as the TJGT came into town. Heavy press coverage in the week leading up to the event combined with a special 4-page insert featuring the TJGT and its top players, left no doubt in anyone¹s mind that the best junior golfers Texas has to offer were coming to town. One-hundred and eight players from 4 US States and Mexico teed it up in perfect golf weather in this nationally-ranked Golfweek event. Every player in the field was in for a surprise when they arrived to check in. Each player in the field received one dozen Nike ONE golf balls in their choice of black or platinum, a really cool pink (yes, pink!) TJGT Nike Dri-fit golf shirt, a Tyler Rose Invitational Nike Dri-fit cap, a Tyler Morning Telegraph umbrella, and a TJGT ³Play with the Best² t-shirt. Every mother in attendance received and mini-Tyler rose bush to plant when they get back home. That was only the beginning. All players and parents were treated to a wonderful hamburger or grilled chicken buffet lunch topped off with either peach cobbler or these absolutely incredible brownies before the 1:30pm shotgun start. While they were eating, TJGT CBM Director and winner of the 1980 Phoenix Open, Jeff Mitchell gave a College Bound Membership presentation followed by a College Golf Q & A. His 14 + years of D-1 head coach experience (at Stanford and Texas Tech) make him the perfect resource when it comes to answering your college golf questions. Ok, on to the action! Perfect weather + incredible golf course = great tournament action. All boys played the gold tees at just over 6,900 yards and all girls played the modified white tees about 5,700 yards.
